Our Client Feedback
ICL’s Consulting Services has a demonstrated ability to move organizations forward through an inclusive and thoughtful organizational development process led by our highly-skilled and always neutral facilitators and consultants who have been working to solve the complex communication and leadership challenges of Maine’s for-profit, nonprofit and public organizations for nearly two decades.
Here are some examples of our recent work:
“In 2010 L.L.Bean launched a new Leadership Development Curriculum. When senior leaders were asked to identify the skills they most wanted to see developed through this curriculum, providing feedback was at the top of their list. It was with this backdrop that we decided to contact Paul Mentag and the Institute for Civic Leadership Consulting Services. From my first meeting with Paul, I was sure that we had selected the correct facilitator for our culture…Probably one of the highest ‘return on time’ programs I’ve gone to. Good practice scenarios.”

PIER Program, Maine Medical Center
“As a result of ICL’s involvement, we implemented a new system for communicating information to and getting input from our staff. This immediately increased trust, reiterated staff’s value to our project, and enhanced cooperation and collaboration. Without a doubt, having ICL’s guidance has been instrumental in re-connecting our staff, re-focusing our efforts, and rejuvenating our staff to do the best work possible.”

“Shalom House has used ICL Consulting Services for two different consultation and training needs. The first time we approached ICL was following a leadership change when it became evident we needed to do some work on both developing a more effective, connected team as well as further enhancing and developing supervisory and leadership skills. We had a very independent team that needed to learn to trust each other more, better understand how others worked as well as when interdependent work was needed have it be more effective. While we were doing some of this work via internal measures it became clear that utilizing an outside consultant would benefit both the Executive Director’s own process but also assist in achieving the above goals in a more comprehensive manner… Two of the greatest benefits of working with consultants from ICL were:
1. The breadth of expertise of the consultants as well as their ability to share with others their knowledge in an enjoyable, easy to understand and stimulating manner.
2. Willingness to truly design trainings that meet our needs including readiness to adapt and make changes as requested.”

The Iris Network
“Though The Iris Network has over 100 years of service to Maine’s blind and visually impaired community, we (the board) recognize that longevity does not necessarily guarantee continued success. We also recognize that board development and capacity building are key factors in ensuring the agency continues to address its mission now and into the future. The Iris Network completed a Board Capacity Building Initiative this past year with Suzanne Austin from ICL Consulting Services facilitating the initiative from planning through the final outcomes. Suzanne’s expertise and guidance throughout were the catalyst needed to orient the board to the key areas of focus to continue to move the agency forward…”

“ICL Consulting Services’ Paul Mentag and Laura Moorehead first help us sort through the ‘real’ issues, helped us define an overall approach to both challenges, and then helped us implement the plan both internally and externally. Using a combination of collaboration, education, and techniques for group interactions ICL helped us convene an internally group to better define the issues, players and preferred external approach. We used this process to begin to rebuild internal understanding.”
